Last Sunday, while visiting family in Carthage, Illinois, we took some time to check out a Catholic high school auction in Nauvoo near the Mississippi River. Very close to the Saints Peter and Paul High School where the auction was being held, was the Mormon "House of the Lord" of Latter-Day Saints.

Right by this building, there stands the local Catholic church.

Directly across the street from the Mormon Temple stands a monument to Joseph Smith and his brother William Smith on horseback:
